S4SH4... BACKGROUND & BIO I grew up all over the world... but when I moved back to the country of mybirth - New Zealand - I found home. I was introduced to wool as a medium to work in by a group of Steiner women and consider myself priviledged to have gotten to be their apprentice of sorts. My background as a graphic artist, as well as my exploration of many mediums over the years informs my work. I comes from a long line of people who make things with their hands inlcuding my Uncle and Grandfather who are luthiers - so I'm always making... something! Currently I am largely inspired by the wonderful place New Zealand is... the natural world, as well as the culture and people. I am also pondering and looking to exlore further the lines between traditional handcrafts and art.
I am thrilled to have been accepted as one of the 'selection of New Zealands finest artists, designers and crafters' at the Auckland Art & Craft Fair being held at Aotea Centre Dec 10, 2011, 11am - 3pm.
